The Glendale Serge & Sew Club meets on the 2nd Wednesday of the month unless otherwise specified.

The Serge & Sew club in Glendale meets on the second Wednesday of the month. We are making a bag this month! Follow the supply list, what needs to be cut before you come to class please. We will use a few sewing machines set up for areas we need to sew.
Bring your Serger and your thread, sewing thread, basics sewing kit.
Each month we will have a small project and then have a question and answer session to help you with your projects.
We will be changing tensions, stitch length and width and use our differential feed! So be ready to have some fun and stretch your knowledge with your serger.
Class attendees are offered a 25% discount off notions and $1 off per yard of fabrics (min. 1/4 cut) needed for this class project. Pre-cut fabrics are not included. Please show a copy of your class registration and supply list at the register to get your discount. This discount expires at the end of class.
SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR THIS PROJECT:
- Main fabric: 1/3 yard (0.31m) for main panels and strap connectors
- Contrast fabric (cork fabric or faux leather): 1/3 yard (0.31m) for strap closures, zipper tabs, adjustable strap, and optional tassel
- Lining: 1/3 yard (0.31m) for panels and interior slip pocket
- Fleece batting 1/3 yard (0.31m)
- Single slide nylon coil handbag zipper: 9 1/2" (24.1cm)
- 1" (2.5cm) D-Rings: 3
- 1" (2.5cm) Swivel Hooks: 3
- 1" (2.5cm) Slider Buckle: 1
- Teflon foot
- Zipper foot or narrow foot
- Chalk or disappearing ink fabric marker
- Basting tape
- 40 wt polyester thread
- Hot glue or fabric glue for optional fabric tassel
CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS
- Main fabric:
- Cut 2 pieces 10 1/2" by 10 1/2" (26.7cm x 26.7cm) for front and back panels
- Cut 2 pieces 2" x 1 1/4" (5.1cm x 3.2cm) for strap connectors
- Contrast fabric:
- Cut 1 piece 1" x 10 1/2" (2.5cm x 26.7cm) for upper strap closure
- Cut 1 piece 1" x 2 3/4" (2.5cm x 7cm) for lower strap closure
- Cut 2 pieces 2" x 25" (5.1cm x 63.5cm) for adjustable strap
- Cut 2 pieces 1" x 1 1/4" (2.5cm x 3.2cm) for zipper tabs
- Optional: Cut 1 piece 3" x4" (7.6cm x 10.2cm) for tassel: cut 1 piece 1/4" x 2" (0.6cm x 5cm) for tassel connector
- Lining:
- Cut 2 pieces 10 1/2" 10 1/2" (26.7cm x 26.7cm) for front and back panels
- Cut 2 pieces 6" x 6" (15.2cm x 15.2cm) for interior slip pocket
- Fleece batting:
- Cut 2 pieces 10 1/2" x 10 1/2" (26.7cm x 26.7cm) for front and back panel
SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR EVERY SERGE & SEW CLASS:
- A serger that is in good working order with foot control, power cord, all it's accessories and instruction book (especially if you have trouble threading your serger)
- Long Nose Tweezers
- Fray check
- Rotary cutter with sharp blade
- Small cutting mat
- Other basic sewing notions: straight pins, wonder clips, fabric marking pens/pencils, seam ripper, scissor, pen/pencil and paper to take notes, etc.
- Your eyeglasses if you need them
Feel free to bring a snack in case the class goes long.
Class & Club Policies
Class and/or Club fees are required at the time of registration. Reservations will only be accepted at time of full payment. If you need to cancel a class, we must be notified a minimum of five (5) days in advance of the class. At five days, we guarantee the attendance to the teacher so she can prepare for the class. There will be no class refunds or credits given after that time period. We reserve the right to cancel a class if we do not have the minimum number of students the teacher requires. If that happens, a full refund or credit will be given. Please read over the supply list for the class completely to see what preparations or special products are needed for the class. Purchase your supplies prior to the class unless the supply list indicates differently.
