Serger Club at Glendale

The Glendale Serger Club meets on the 2nd Wednesday of the month unless otherwise specified.

Location: Glendale Store - 7838 N. 59th Ave.
Time:      10:00 AM - 12:30 PM

$15 + cost of supplies

The Serger Club in Glendale meets on the second Wednesday of the month.

Each month we will have a small project and then have a question and answer session to help you with your projects.

We will be changing tensions, stitch length and width and use our differential feed! So be ready to have some fun and stretch your knowledge with your serger.

In our October class, we will be making a serger table runner with pieced insert for the front of the runner.

We are going to piece the insert of the front of the table runner and
then serge it together, insert some batting and go to a machine on the floor to quilt the runner.

It’s a great way to learn how to piece on a serger and create a
beautiful table runner in just an hour and a half.

Pre-Class Preparation:

Cut enough 2 1⁄2 “ strips in different colors to be able to complete the center of your table runner depending on the size you want to make.  It should be at least 10 inches wide, and the length of the runner.    Do not cut your backing until you determine the with and length of your runner.

SUPPLIES TO BRING FOR THE OCTOBER PROJECT:

Fabric and Batting:

  • Multiple colors of fabric to cut into 2 ½ “ strips to make a table runner the width and length of your choice. OR
  • Jelly Roll
  • Backing fabric to coordinate with your project – this should be the width and length of your table runner plus 8” for the width and 8” for the length.
  • Low loft batting - craft size (46" x 36") or a piece the width + 4" X the length + 4" of your table runner.

Thread(s):
  • Four spools of all purpose serger thread to match your project
  • One spool of sewing machine thread to match your project for when you are quilting the runner on a regular sewing machine.
