Must have taken the Ruler Basics class to attend this class.
Topics:
• Rotating template basics:
o Key features of rotating templates o How to mark your quilt.
o Create a variety of designs using rotating templates.
• Resources for future reference and practice.
Supplies:
• Westalee Ruler Foot Starter Set, which includes:
o Ruler Foot for your machine
o 12”Arc Template
o Stable Tape
• Westalee Spacing Gauge – may be a part of your starter set.
• Westalee Rotating Templates from the Sampler Template Set:
o Spinning Wheel # 36
o Spin-e-flex #4
o 6” Spiral
• Westalee 8 ½” or 12 ½” 8pt Cross Hair Square
o Fabrics:
o 2 Fat-Quarter Practice Sandwiches.
o Suggestion: Choose a top fabric that you can easily see chalk or wash away ink pen lines on.
• Thread, 50wt or 60wt for your top and bobbin.
o Pre-fill 2-3 bobbins before class
• Size 80/12 or 90/14 Top Stitch or Jeans Machine Needles
• Marking Tool of choice: Chalk, Disappearing Ink or Wash Away.
• Sewing Machine in Good Working order.
• Basic Sewing Kit including: scissors, straight pins, seam ripper.
Helpful Supplies:
• Quilting gloves or glycerin for your hands.
• 6 “ or 6 ½ " square ruler
• Self-threading needles for burying threads.
• Sewing Table Extension
• Free-Motion Glider
