Beginning Purse Class - Scarlett Bag by Sallie Tomato

This is a ONE-DAY CLASS 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 pm

Instructor: Robin 

During this class you will learn several bag making techniques and tricks, such as a slip pocket, how to attach hard ware, sewing with cork or vinyl.

 
Before you come to class you need to purchase your pattern from Mulqueen's and make several copies of all the pattern pieces.

Pattern and Pattern Pieces – if possible, please have pieces cut out and interfaced prior to class. This will insure project completion. Vinyl and/or cork does not require interfacing.

What to Bring to Class:

 Sewing Machine

 Thread and a couple Full Bobbins

HARDWARE: Either Scarlett Hardware Kit or the following:

Three 1-1/2” “O” Rings (“O” Rings may be substituted with 1-1/2” D-Rings)

½” Magnetic snap

Handmade Tag (optional)

Small Rivets that match your other hardware

Rivet tool will be provided

 Fabric Needed:

Main Fabric (external bag body) ½ yard of 42” wide fabric or vinyl

 Lining Fabric (internal bag body and slip pocket) ½ yard of 42” wide fabric or vinyl

 Contrast Fabric (Tabs, Tassel, and Shoulder strap) Vinyl

 Interfacing – 1 yard (SF101) I suggest interfacing lining pieces as well as pocket pieces.

 Sew-In-Foam - if 20” wide, you will need 1 yard • If 58” wide – you will need ½ yard  (Mulqueen's sells this in a package, one package is enough to complete this bag)

 GENERAL SEWING SUPPLIES: Scissors, Seam Ripper, Marking pen or chalk, Pins, Clips, Grid Ruler

Class and Club Policy

Class and/or Club fees are required at the time of registration. Reservations will only be accepted at time of full payment. If you need to cancel a class, we must be notified a minimum of five (5) days in advance of the class. At five days, we guarantee the attendance to the teacher so she can prepare for the class. There will be no class refunds or credits given after that time period. We reserve the right to cancel a class if we do not have the minimum number of students the teacher requires. If that happens, a full refund or credit will be given. Please read over the supply list for the class completely to see what preparations or special products are needed for the class. Purchase your supplies prior to the class unless the supply list indicates differently.

Please refrain from wearing scented sprays and lotions when attending classes and clubs.
