Become Your Own Quilting Hero

Become Your Own Quilting Hero

How many quilt tops do you have finished? How long have you had them sitting and waiting? Don’t want to spend piles of cash to have someone else finish them just yet?

We have the answers! Sign up for our longarm “Spa Day” and you will be amazed how easy it is to be your own quilter.

In this two day class you will learn all of the basics of longarming to take the fear out of it! It will be the push you need to get your very own machine to finish all of those tops, currently sitting in your closet. Whether you want to start your own long arm business, or you just don’t want to pay someone else to finish your beloved quilts. This class will help you get comfortable enough to take the plunge into longarm quilting.

While the price alone can be daunting when talking about purchasing a long arm, it is easy to justify the cost when you break down the cost of each quilt.

Edge to Edge: $0.02-$0.04 per square inch and up depending on whether you pay for thread, batting, and any other necessities a quilter may ask for.

  • With E2E you may find yourself paying $150-$300 a quilt. Average cost being around $200 per quilt. If you do 15-20 quilts a year (most are over 20) you are likely to spend $3,000-$5,000 a year to pay someone to quilt your works of art for you.

Custom Quilting: $0.05 and up per square inch. The sky is the limit with custom. Whether each block is completely different, or you’re only wanting quilting in the negative. The possibilities and the bills can be endless. Some custom quilts could cost you well over $500-$1,000 just for one quilt. Granted, that will more likely than not, be the most beautiful piece of art you have ever done. However, don’t you want to be the one to finish it from start to end?

Schedule:

Day 1: Morning Session

  • You will be put through the grueling “Long Arm Bootcamp”. While that is obviously a joke, the bootcamp is quite possibly the most important portion of this class. You will learn the nitty gritty of owning a longarm. Everything from the proper ways to load a quilt, Down to the dreaded tensions. You will walk into lunch knowing not only how to keep a quilt straight, but how to make sure people are jealous of all of your beautiful, perfect stitches.

Day 1: Lunch

  • Lunch will be provided as a part of the cost of the class. The menu may change depending on availability. However, you will probably find yourself enjoying a decedent 3 course meal from…. Jersey Mikes, or another 5 star sandwich shop. (3 course: chips, sandwich, and dessert)

  • During lunch you can ask for insight on all of the available machines, and specials. During this class, you can take advantage of attendee only sales on everything in the store! Fabric to needles, we will make sure it is too good of a deal to not stock up while you are here.

Day 1: Afternoon

  • The oh so “Sweet and Simple Freemotion” portion of your adventure. Here you will learn about how to connect your quilting and how to make it flow. You will learn all of the different styles of stippling, meandering, and everything in between. This is arguably the most fun part because if you are a rebel you can try your hand at writing out your name and monogramming your sample!

  • Sadly after that is over, you do have to go home, butttttttt….. We will see you the next day!

Day 2: Morning

  • Now I know I said Freemotion is the most fun, but I said arguably. Day 2 in the morning is by far, the most fun. This is “Pro-Stitcher Basics” and don’t be fooled by the title, it is far from basic. You will learn everything you need to know to become a “Pro…Stitcher” (I should’ve done stand-up) In all seriousness this is the best class.

  • You will learn how to set up a quilt in a number of ways. From Edge To Edge all the way to Custom quilting inside of each individual block. Here you will also learn why Handi Quilter is the industry leader in all things quilting. The Pro-Stitcher is the most user friendly software on the market and you will be amazed what you can do with it!

Day 2: Lunch

  • Now if you loved yesterday’s lunch, you may want to take a seat. We will be bringing in chick-fil-a or similar (also a 3 course meal) (I know that’s not what that means)

  • Today is the day you become your own quilter, if this masterpiece of a class description hasn’t sold you yet. Then after the first 3/4th of this class you will know that you need your very own long arm. Question is, “How Big?” Before you come into the second day, if you are considering becoming your own hero, Please measure out where you want to put your new baby. You want the largest frame that you can possibly fit, so you can quilt all sizes of quilts.

Day 2: Afternoon

  • Now the afternoon is a let down (Only because you don’t get to hangout with Ger anymore). The class itself will make you wish you were out on the beach or surfing. We are talking about “Radical Rulers”. You guessed it, we will be learning how to ruler quilt. This is one of the coolest parts of owning a longarm. Handi quilter has dozens of rulers to choose from to make each and every quilt different and just that much more special.

Now, since you have made it to the end of this poetic masterpiece. Don’t you want to sign up? Take advantage of early bird pricing. You don’t want to miss this class. Read below for rules before signing up.
