In October we will be embroidering with the Amelie Scott Designs “Backyard Buddies Mug Rugs”. This pattern has no SVG files.  During this class we will start with a learning session on 2 different ways to create our own cutting files for the Brother ScanNCut.

  1. Using Embrilliance software
  2. Directly on the ScanNCut machine
If you have either of these, feel free to bring yours in so you can play along, but neither of them are required for the class.

These mug rugs can be made with or without binding. They are cute both ways.

Pre-Class Preparation:
  • Put PES files on your machine or a USB drive.
  • Cut two (2) 7” x 9” piece of backing fabric (4 pieces for no binding method)
  • Cut two (2) 5.5” background square (Left side of mug rug)
  • Cut four (4) 1.75” x 3.5” strips (Right side of mug rug)
  • Cut six (6) 1.5” x 3.5” strips (Right side of mug rug)
  • Cut two (2) 2.5” x 40” strip binding fabric (Optional)

Fabric:

FOR TWO MUG RUGS:

  • Backing Fabric 1/4yd or a FQ
  • Backround square – 1/4yd or FQ or 2 Crackers. (Left side of mug rug)
  • 3-5 coordinating colors of scraps for right side strips
  • Two 2.5” x 40” strip binding fabric (Optional)
  • Fabrics for Animals:
    • Racoon Fabrics – 6X6 each – White (2), light gray (1), dark gray (1), green (1)
    • Bunny Fabrics – 6X6 each – White (2), pink, orange
    • Owl Fabrics – 6X6 each – Green (3), Brown (2), White (2)
    • Fox Fabrics – 6X6 Each – Brown (2), White (2)

 

Battings / Stabilizers / Interfacing w/ SKUs:
  • No Show Mesh Stabilizer    SKU: HBC15-10
  • Two pieces of batting - 5.5” x 8” each    SKU: EWCF
  • Kimberbell Paper Tape     SKU: KDTL100
  • Approx 24” of HeatnBond Lite   SKU: 3524

 

Thread(s):
  • Embroidery threads in a variety of colors to compliment the animals and fabric colors

Basic Sewing / Embroidery Notions plus Notions that are required or helpful for this project

  
Straight Pins, Wonder Clips, Fabric Marking Pens/Pencils, Machine Screwdriver, Seam Ripper, Tweezers, Scissor, Applique/Embroidery Scissor, Pen/Pencil and Paper to take notes, Eye glasses if you need them, etc.

If you own a Brother ScanNCut machine or a laptop with Embrilliance software installed, feel free to bring those to class so you can play along with the lesson.  Neither are required for this class.

Machine Supplies to bring to class:
  • Embroidery Machine in good working order with manual, power cord and foot control.
  • Embroidery foot
  • Needles sizes 75/11 and 90/14
  • Wound bobbins
  • Embroidery Hoops size 6" x 10" or larger required
  • Applique/Embroidery Scissor
  • LowTack ScanNCut SDX Mat (required even if you do not bring your ScanNCut)

OPTIONAL:
  • Sewing Machine in good working order with manual, power cord and foot control.
  • 1/4 inch piecing foot w/ or w/out guide
  • Brother ScanNCut Machine with manual and power cordBring lunch, snacks and water.

 Feel free to bring lunch, snacks and water for you to enjoy during class. 

Class & Club Policies 

Class and/or Club fees are required at the time of registration. Reservations will only be accepted at time of full payment. If you need to cancel a class, we must be notified a minimum of five (5) days in advance of the class. At five days, we guarantee attendance to the teacher so she can prepare for the class. There will be no class refunds or credits given after that time. We reserve the right to cancel a class if we do not have the minimum number of students the teacher requires. If that happens, a full refund or credit will be given. Please read over the supply list for the class completely to see what preparations or special products are needed for the class. Purchase your supplies prior to the class unless the supply list indicates differently.
