Are you struggling with finishing your quilts and table runners? Have you been unhappy with your corners? Or maybe you just don't know where to start? This Basics on Finishing class will help with those edges. We will discuss the many questions that arise as we complete a binding using two different methods.
Class attendees are offered a 25% discount off notions and $1 off per yard of fabrics (min. 1/4 cut) needed for this class project. Pre-cut fabrics are not included. Please show a copy of your class registration and supply list at the register to get your discount. This discount expires at the end of class.
PRE-CLASS PREPARATION:
- Prepare two (2) Fat Quarters (approximately 18" x 21") OR placemat size (9" x 20").
- Prepare pieces to binding
- Layer backing fabric face down, batting, and top layer face up. Quilt as desired.
- You can also safety pin these layers together.
- Muslin is fine, or left over fabrics
THIS MUST BE DONE BEFORE CLASS!!
SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR THIS PROJECT:
- Book - Ultimate Binding & Edge-Finishing Guide by Deonn Stott
- Fabric - 1/3-yard fabric for cutting binding strips
- Thread - A neutral color or a color to match the binding strips
MACHINE SUPPLIES TO BRING TO CLASS:
- Your sewing machine with power cord and foot control
- 1/4-inch foot
- Walking foot
- Standard foot
- Zipper foot
- Wound bobbins
- Basic Sewing notions to bring to class:
- Straight pins, Wonder Clips, fabric marking pens/pencils, machine screwdriver, seam ripper, scissors, pens/pencils and paper to take notes, etc.
- Rotary cutter tools to bring to class:
- Rotary cutter with sharp blade, small cutting mat, long ruler for cutting strips
- Optional supplies to bring to class:
- An edge joining foot or stitch-in-the-ditch foot; OR bring all your feet and we will see what you have!
Please bring a lunch, snacks, and water for your comfort.

Class & Club Policies
Class and/or Club fees are required at the time of registration. Reservations will only be accepted at time of full payment. If you need to cancel a class, we must be notified a minimum of five (5) days in advance of the class. At five days, we guarantee attendance to the teacher so she can prepare for the class. There will be no class refunds or credits given after that time. We reserve the right to cancel a class if we do not have the minimum number of students the teacher requires. If that happens, a full refund or credit will be given. Please read over the supply list for the class completely to see what preparations or special products are needed for the class. Purchase your supplies prior to the class unless the supply list indicates differently. Please refrain from using perfumes or scented lotions for the health and safety of our staff and customers.
