Join all your embroidery friends (and make new ones) as we create the Janine Babich's "Fun in the Sun" tabletop display with the Brother ScanNCut machine.
During class, we will be cutting out applique pieces on the Bother ScanNCut and creating 3 in-the-hoop embroidered applique projects for the tri-stand display. There will be NO sewing with this project.
**A ScanNCut machine is NOT required to participate in this class. If you have one at home, you may precut your applique pieces if you are comfortable doing so. Otherwise, the teacher will be available to teach you how to do this during class on the classroom machine.
Class attendees are offered a 25% discount off notions and $1 off per yard of fabrics (min. 1/4 cut) needed for this class project. Pre-cut fabrics are not included. Please show a copy of your class registration and supply list at the register to get your discount. This discount expires at the end of class.
PRE-CLASS PREPARATION:
If cutting at home, cut the following (or you can cut in class on the ScanNCut):
- From your background fabric, cut three (3) pieces 5" x 9"
- From your batting or fusible fleece, cut three (3) pieces 4-1/8" x 7-1/2"
- From your backing fabric, cut six (6) pieces 5" x 5"
- From your applique fabrics, cut five (5) pieces 6" x 6" fused with Heat N Bond Lite for the Sun hat, flip flops, umbrella, Sun, and Sunglasses
- Copy PES files to USB stick or your embroidery machine
SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR PROJECT:
- Pattern - Fun in the Sun table top display pattern by Janine Babich (SKU JBDFUN)
- Fabric and batting - 1/2 yard each of backing and background fabrics
- Three (3) scraps of 5" x 8" fusible batting/fleece OR 1/4 yard
- Five (5) scraps cut 6" x 6" for Sun hat, flip flops, umbrella, sun and sunglasses
- Stabilizers - Mesh stabilizer (such as Floriani Power Mesh - SKU FPMNU1510)
- Thread - a cheerful variety of summer threads such as yellow, gold, pins, teals, etc.
- Other Project Supplies - 4" x 9" table top tri-stand (SKU 87297) OR 12" split bottom scroll hanger (SKU 32512); 12" coordinating ribbon; Hem tape / Steam A Seam/Heat N Bond tape 1/2" x 12"
MACHINE SUPPLIES TO BRING TO CLASS:
- Embroidery machine with power cord, foot control, and manual
- ScanNCut Mats (low tack mat - SKU CAMATLOW12)
- Embroidery foot
- Embroidery hoops 6" x 10" or larger
- Wound bobbins
- Needle sizes 75/11
- Basic Sewing/Embroidery Notions: Straight pins, Wonder clips, fabric marking pens/pencils, machine screwdriver, seam ripper, scissors, pen/pencil and paper to take notes, etc.
- Optional (these would add some interest and pizazz to your project!) - OESD Glitter Faux Leather (SKU OESDSP014), Kimberbell Glitter HTV (SKU KDKB142), KingTut metalic thread
- Other Special Instructions: This is a fully in-the-hoop project. You will not need a sewing machine for this class.

Class & Club Policies
Class and/or Club fees are required at the time of registration. Reservations will only be accepted at time of full payment. If you need to cancel a class, we must be notified a minimum of five (5) days in advance of the class. At five days, we guarantee attendance to the teacher so she can prepare for the class. There will be no class refunds or credits given after that time. We reserve the right to cancel a class if we do not have the minimum number of students the teacher requires. If that happens, a full refund or credit will be given. Please read over the supply list for the class completely to see what preparations or special products are needed for the class.
