Christmas in July! This fun tree can be made in two different shapes and has OOHHHHHH so many options for decorating! i.e. Advent Calendar, lace ornaments, recycled ornaments, pins or buttons, and so much more…. The piecing is easy and the potential color options are unlimited. The sample tree is in scrappy greens with a white and gold dot background! Beginner friendly? – absolutely! But also a fun project if you have more experience! Don’t miss the fun with this one!


The Pattern gives you 2 different tree shapes. Decide which layout you prefer. Gather your fabrics and let’s have some fun.

HINT for cutting those 1 ½” strips! Lay out your fabric for cutting. BUT, instead of placing your ruler on the 1 1.2’ lines, start at your 3” line. Make your cut. BUT DON’T pick up your ruler! INSTEAD, slide it over to the 1 ½” mark and make another cut. Now, pick up your ruler and TA DA, you have 2 strips cut in half the time! Email the instructor if you need any more help.

Choose tree version you want to make
Precut your fabrics to 1 1/2" strips WOF (Do NOT cut to lengths needed)

SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR PROJECT:

Pattern - OH, STRIPMAS TREE by Michelle Watts (SKU: JMWOST)
Fabric - 1-5/8 yard background fabric
2/3 yard - 3/4 yard (depending on version) for Tree
1/8 yard -1/8 yard brown for the trunk
1/3 yard for the binding
Thread - Neutral thread (I prefer Aurifil)

Discount Supply List – Class attendees will be given a list of supplies they can purchase at any Mulqueen location. It offers 25% off class notions and $1 off price per yard for fabrics needed for the class. Students are required to show the supply list and a copy of their class registration to receive the discounts.

MACHINE SUPPLIES TO BRING TO CLASS:

Sewing machine with power cord and foot control
1/4 inch foot to fit your machine
Wound bobbins
Basic sewing notions: straight pins, wonder clips, fabric marking pens/pencils, machine screwdriver, seam ripper, scissors, pen/pencil and paper to take notes, etc.
Rotary Cutter with sharp blade
Cutting Mat - Small for cutting strips to length
Ruler - Small or narrow
Special Instructions: Please bring a tape measure

Class & Club Policies

Class and/or Club fees are required at the time of registration. Reservations will only be accepted at time of full payment. If you need to cancel a class, we must be notified a minimum of five (5) days in advance of the class. At five days, we guarantee attendance to the teacher so she can prepare for the class. There will be no class refunds or credits given after that time. We reserve the right to cancel a class if we do not have the minimum number of students the teacher requires. If that happens, a full refund or credit will be given. Please read over the supply list for the class completely to see what preparations or special products are needed for the class. Purchase your supplies prior to the class unless the supply list indicates differently. Please refrain from using perfumes or scented lotions for the health and safety of our staff and customers.
