Blender Lemon Pie Recipe Towel

In this class you will be using your embroidery unit and your sewing machine. Bring a snack, we may run over! I created this class years ago and everyone loves the towel and the pie. It’s a fun and easy project you can use again and again for gifts or to decorate your kitchen. If all goes well, I will probably be bringing the pie! YUM! It’s a wonderful recipe that goes together fast and people love the lemon, tart, sweetness of this pie. It’s a great addition to any picnic or family occasion…and when the hostess raves about the pie, you can present her with the recipe on a fun towel…believe me people will love getting this gift. I’ve made many pies and towels, and everyone is delighted to get this recipe in such a creative way.

Please bring your embroidery machine with your embroidery hoop.
Your 240 X 150 Viking hoop (If you have the 240” X 150” medal hoop this is a perfect project for that hoop)
If you are using the metal hoop, please bring sticky back stabilizer and 4 to 6 magnets.
Use tear-away stabilizer sticky back stabilizer if you prefer to not hoop your towel. That
was always my method until the metal magnetic hoops came about. Now I always use the 240 X 150 metal hoop for this towel.

Your Q foot, your “A” foot, and stitch in the ditch foot. (If you do not have a stitch in the
ditch foot you may want to invest in this foot, it is one of my favorite feet for beautiful
straight sewing in the ditch.) If you purchase your foot for the class, you will get the 20% off class discount.
Pins
Scissors for cutting thread
Seam Gage
Pressing station if you have one, along with a travel iron will be helpful.
1- Cotton Kitchen Towel. (Approx. 18” X 28”)
This towel should be plain without a pattern; towels with side borders are fine.
Please wash the towel and press it well. After you wash, dry and press the towel.
Please use a seam ripper and unstitch the BOTTOM hem only. After unstitching the
BOTTOM hem, unstitch the side hems on both sides. Starting from the BOTTOM
unstitch the side hems up about 10” (inches)

Before Class:
Preparing the decorative Band fabric:
*Using a Rotary cutter cut a strip of the focus fabric 3” X 45” of your focus fabric. (In this
case you will probably want a lemon theme fabric)
*Using a Rotary cutter cut a small accent strip for the top of the band 1” X 45”.
One spool of thread to match the focus fabric, you can use your bobbin thread for embroidery for this part. BUT please wind a bobbin with the sewing thread because you
need it to re-sew the sides. You will need a spool of thread and bobbin to MATCH THE
TOWEL. (For stitching up the open side seams.)

***We will be assembling this band in class; if you have everything pressed and prepared, we will be able to finish this project in the time allotted. ***
Embroidery Bobbin thread, wound and ready. If your towel is white or beige, white bobbin thread is best. (Pre-wound bobbins work great and save time.)
Suggested Thread Colors: Different shades of yellows and greens for the lemon, stem and leaves.

For the Heading: Blender Lemon Pie and the font, use a color of your choice

In this class you will learn to properly hoop a design, how to sew a decorative band on a towel and learn to choose thread colors.
