Learn Edge to Edge Quilting with an Embroidery Machine

Join the Glendale Store to learn how to do Edge-to Edge quilting on an embroidery machine.

Bring in a quilt "sandwich" of any size or your Table Runner from one of Ellen's quilting classes and we will earn how to do Edge-to-Edge quilting using your embroidery machine.

Pattern Options: You can purchase any Amelie Scott Expansion packs or if your machine has built-in edge-to-edge quilting, that will work just fine. The embroidery teacher is able to work with any brand of embroidery machine.

We typically use magnetic hoops for edge-to-edge embroidery. Plastic hoops can be used, but they are less than ideal.

If you do not own an embroidery machine but would love to see how this can help your quilting, we have a limited number of machines that you can borrow. Please email the teacher, Christine Lardy at clardy4@gmail.com to reserve a machine for this class.

If you have an Aveneer or Luminaire 3, we will not be using the built-in edge-to-edge quilting "Program". That will be a separate class if anyone is interested in learning that feature of their machine. Please inquire with the teacher or the Glendale store.

Class attendees are offered a 25% discount off notions and $1 off per yard of fabrics (min. 1/4 cut) needed for this class project. Pre-cut fabrics are not included. Please show a copy of your class registration and supply list at the register to get your discount. This discount expires at the end of class.

PRE-CLASS PREPARATION:

• Fabric and batting - Two (2) layers of cotton fabric and 1 layer of quilt batting, any size
• Thread - Embroidery Threads that either match your fabrics or contrast, depending on your preference. Many quilters and embroiderers prefer Glide thread for edge-to-edge embroidery.

• Embroidery Machine with Power Cord, Foot Control and Manual
• Embroidery Foot
• Embroidery Hoops - ALL metal hoops
• Wound bobbins
• Needles - Microtex 80/12 or 90/14
• Optional - Sewtites Magnum Yellow magnets if you have them
• Basic sewing notions: straight pins, wonder clips, fabric marking pens/pencils, machine screwdriver, seam ripper, scissors, pen/pencil and paper to take notes, etc.
• Rotary Cutter with sharp blade
• Optional - Cutting Mat - 8x10 or larger

Please bring lunch, snacks, and water for your comfort.

Class & Club Policies

Class and/or Club fees are required at the time of registration. Reservations will only be accepted at time of full payment. If you need to cancel a class, we must be notified a minimum of five (5) days in advance of the class. At five days, we guarantee attendance to the teacher so she can prepare for the class. There will be no class refunds or credits given after that time. We reserve the right to cancel a class if we do not have the minimum number of students the teacher requires. If that happens, a full refund or credit will be given. Please read over the supply list for the class completely to see what preparations or special products are needed for the class. Purchase your supplies prior to the class unless the supply list indicates differently. Please refrain from using perfumes or scented lotions for the health and safety of our staff and customers.
