Join us in Glendale for a hands-on class to learn how to use a Brother ScanNCut machine to cut applique patterns for machine embroidery.

This class will focus on how to use the Brother ScanNCut machine to cut SVG's.  We will cut out the shapes and then use your embroidery machine to stitch out the design.  

This is the perfect class if you have never opened your Brother ScanNCut, if you've never done embroidered applique, or you really want to learn more about working directly with your ScanNCut with no software or computer required.

I will be stitching out the Fabric Confetti Ugly Christmas Sweater mug rugs as a test in class, however, you can bring in any FABRIC CONFETTI EMBROIDERED APPLIQUE PATTERN that you like.  I can walk you through any of their patterns.  Just make sure your pattern is compatible with your hoop size.

If you don't own a Brother ScanNCut yet, no problem.  You can work on the class machine to see how you like this super fun and easy way to do machine embroidered applique.

If you would like to learn how to send your files wirelessly to your ScanNCut, please bring your laptop computer.  We will go over this at the beginning of the class.

An embroidery machine is optional.  You can stitch your design out at home after class if you don't want to bring it to class.  You can watch me stitch mine out and take notes on the process.



PRE-CLASS PREPARATION:

  • Put embroidery AND SVG cutting files on a USB drive
  • FOR THE MUG RUGS PATTERN - cut the following for your fabric:

    • Front fabric - 6 1/2" x 8 1/2"
    • Fusible fleece - 6 1/2" x 8 1/2"
    • Back fabric A - 6" x 6"
    • Back fabric B - 6" x 7"
  • IF you are using a different pattern - cut the fabric per instructions on your pattern.
  • Plan to bring snacks or lunch for your comfort

  • On day of class, PLEASE refrain from using perfumes or scented lotions for the health and safety of our staff and other customers. Thank you.

     


SUPPLIES YOU NEED FOR THIS PROJECT:

Class attendees are offered a 25% discount off notions and $1 off per yard of fabrics (min. 1/4 cut) required and used for this class project.  Pre-cut fabrics are not included.  Please show a copy of your class registration AND supply list at the register to get your discount.  This discount expires at the end of class.

  • Pattern:  Fabric Confetti Ugly Christmas Sweaters Mug Rugs - SKU: FC-VD OR another Fabric Confetti embroidered applique pattern
  • 1/2 yard of background fabric and backing fabric for your pattern
  • Fusible Fleece - suggest Pellon 986F
  • Polymesh stabilizer - SKU: HBC15-10
  • 1 yard HeatnBond Light - SKU: 3524
  • Eye glasses if you need them

OPTIONAL SUPPLIES if you ARE bringing your embroidery machine
  • Embroidery threads for your pattern
  • Kimberbell or OESD paper tape - SKU: KDTL100 or SKU: EMBTAPETA
  • 75/11 Embroidery Needle
  • Rotary cutter with a sharp blade
  • Small cutting mat -- 8" x 10" or larger
  • Basic Sewing/Embroidery Notions -- Straight Pins, Wonder Clips, Fabric Marking Pens/Pencils, Machine Screwdriver, Seam Ripper,
    Scissor, Pen/Pencil and Paper to take notes, etc.
  • Wound Bobbins (black and white for Sweater Mug Rugs)
  • Embroidery Thread



OPTIONAL MACHINE SUPPLIES TO BRING TO CLASS:
  • Embroidery machine with power cord and foot control
  • Embroidery Hoop - 6" x 10" OR size required for your pattern
  • Embroidery Foot
  • Brother ScanNCut Machine with power cord
  • Low Tack ScanNCut Mat compatible with your ScanNCut
  • Laptop with charging cable and mouse

Class & Club Policies

Class and/or Club fees are required at the time of registration. Reservations will only be accepted at time of full payment. If you need to cancel a class, we must be notified a minimum of five (5) days in advance of the class. At five days, we guarantee attendance to the teacher so she can prepare for the class. There will be no class refunds or credits given after that time. We reserve the right to cancel a class if we do not have the minimum number of students the teacher requires. If that happens, a full refund or credit will be given. Please read over the supply list for the class completely to see what preparations or special products are needed for the class. Purchase your supplies prior to the class unless the supply list indicates differently. Please refrain from using perfumes or scented lotions for the health and safety of our staff and customers.
