Beginning Quilting Skills Series

$35 per session plus supplies

Class 1 (Sept.28) focuses on cutting skills, accurate ¼” seams, and all the basics on setting up your sewing machine correctly.
Blocks: Four Patch and Rail Fence

Class 2 (Oct. 12) has a cutting review, and focuses on sewing order with multiple seams, and pressing seams. Accuracy will be addressed as well
as light and dark fabric uses within blocks.
Blocks: Log Cabin and Nine Patch

Class 3 (Oct. 26) focuses on HST (half square triangles), cutting and squaring up. Discussions will be on the use of fabrics within blocks as
well as how to put various components together within blocks.
Blocks: Friendship Star and Churn Dash

Class 4 (Nov. 9) focuses on the flying goose unit constructions and sewing with that unit. It will also do a basic block with basic simple fusible
applique.
Blocks: Sawtooth Star and Hip to be Square

Class 5 (Nov. 23) is all about fusible applique and how to finish them with stitching. We will also be finishing the block made in class 4.
Blocks: Hip to be Square and Beautiful Bloom

Class 6 (Dec. 14) will be centered on putting the blocks together into a table runner, topper, or sampler quilt. Borders will also be delved into. The book gives lots of options and the choice will be yours.
Blocks: All blocks you have made for this.

Pre-Class Preparation:

Purchase the book and gather the fabrics needed for the blocks in the class that you plan to attend.

Discount Supply List – Class attendees will be given a list of supplies they can purchase at any Mulqueen location. It offers 25% off class notions and $1 off price per yard for fabrics needed for the class. Students are required to show the supply list and a copy of their class registration to receive the discounts.

Sewing Machine with Power Cord and Foot Control

1/4 Inch Foot

Standard Foot

Wound Bobbins

Needle Sizes/Types Size 12 Microtex (sharps)

Basic Sewing / Embroidery Notions to bring to class:

Straight Pins, Wonder Clips, Fabric Marking Pens/Pencils, Machine Screwdriver, Seam Ripper, Scissor, Pen/Pencil and Paper to take notes, etc.

Rotary Cutting Tools to bring to class:

Rotary Cutter with sharp blade

Cutting Mat: Medium size approximately 18” x 24"

Ruler: Size: Longer – these will be discussed in class

Bring lunch or snack as desired.

Class & Club Policies:
Class and/or Club fees are required at the time of registration. Reservations will only be accepted at time of full payment. If you need to cancel a class, we must be notified a minimum of five (5) days in advance of the class. At five days, we guarantee attendance to the teacher so she can
prepare for the class. There will be no class refunds or credits given after that time. We reserve the right to cancel a class if we do not have the minimum number of students the teacher requires. If that happens, a full refund or credit will be given. Please read over the supply list for the class completely to see what preparations or special products are needed for the class. Purchase your supplies prior to the class unless the supply list indicates differently.
