Have you ever been captivated by the striking, geometric designs of Violet Craft's "Abstractions" series and wondered, “Could I make that?” The answer is YES!

Join us for this exciting, multi-part class where we will tackle the awe-inspiring Elephant Abstractions quilt (or the equally stunning Wolf Abstractions or Giraffe pattern). Bring whichever ANIMAL Abstractions pattern you prefer from Violet Craft.

This project looks complex, but the secret lies in a technique called Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP). In this class, we will demystify FPP, breaking down the process step-by-step so you can confidently create those crisp, perfect points and intricate details that make these quilts true works of art.

In this class, you will learn:

• The fundamentals of Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP).
• How to accurately read and follow complex FPP patterns.
• Tips and tricks for organizing your fabrics and pattern pieces for a large-scale project.
• Techniques for joining complex sections together seamlessly.
• Troubleshooting common FPP challenges.

This class is perfect for:

• Quilters who have basic sewing experience but are new to Foundation Paper Piecing.
• Experienced FPP quilters looking for a supportive environment to tackle a large, show-stopping project.
• Anyone who wants to learn the skills necessary to create any of Violet Craft’s incredible "Abstractions" patterns.

What to expect:

This is a comprehensive, multi-session course designed to guide you through the entire process, from your first stitches to assembling the final quilt top. We’ll provide a supportive, collaborative environment where you can learn at your own pace and celebrate your progress with fellow makers.

(Class will meet over two sessions October 29th and November 12th to get you to the finish line!)

PROJECT SUPPLIES TO BRING TO CLASS
Bring proof of your class registration to any Mulqueen location and get 25% OFF ANY NOTIONS ON THIS LIST.  Plus, you will get $1 off per yard (1/4 yard minimum cut) of fabric you need for this project.

• Choose one of the following Animal Abstractions Patterns from Violet Craft:
  • Elephant Abstractions
  • Wolf Abstractions
  • Lion Abstractions
  • Giraffe Abstractions
  • Forest Abstractions

• Check the back of the pattern for fabric requirements.  
• Photo copy and cut around each of the all pattern pieces PRIOR to the first class (can be done anywhere that offers 11x17” prints) (Do not cut on the solid lines or dotted lines)
• Rotary Cutter
• 2 Pairs of Scissors - one pair for fabric, one pair for paper
• Coordinating Thread
• Flat Head Pins
• Add a Quarter Ruler
• Seam Ripper
• Violet Craft Seam Roller
• Basic Sewing Supplies - pins, pin cushion, etc.

Please refrain from wearing scented sprays, lotions or essential oils when attending classes and clubs for the health and safety of the staff and customers. 

Class & Club Policies 

Class and/or Club fees are required at the time of registration. Reservations will only be accepted at time of full payment. If you need to cancel a class, we must be notified a minimum of five (5) days in advance of the class. At five days, we guarantee the attendance to the teacher so she can prepare for the class. There will be no class refunds or credits given after that time period. We reserve the right to cancel a class if we do not have the minimum number of students the teacher requires. If that happens, a full refund or credit will be given. Please read over the supply list for the class completely to see what preparations or special products are needed for the class. Purchase your supplies prior to the class unless the supply list indicates differently.
