Born and raised in Hoboken, New Jersey, Stephen Wilson is a conceptual artist whose unique medium carries his message. Blending luxury fabric, digital renderings, 3D printed sculptures, laser engraved acrylics and highly detailed embroidery pieces, Wilson’s manipulation of multiple materials produces wholly unique works of art. His work reflects fashion influence, Americana aesthetic, and traditional quilting techniques. His early career in the commercial fashion industry along with the wildly successful embroidery software company, Anita Goodesign, has equipped Stephen with a range of technical skills. Stephen is a master level digitizer who has been creating embroidery designs and quilting patterns for over 20 years. As a fine artist, he is deeply interested in the intersection of traditional craft and contemporary culture, witnessed through his use of fabrics that have never been used in traditional crafting – everything from Hermes silk scarves, wool bouclé from Chanel and Louis Vuitton leather to create unique works that are sculptural, skillful and surprising. Wilson’s work is in galleries across the country and in museums and private collections worldwide, from Mexico to Bulgaria.
Anita Goodesign was founded 15 years ago by Stephen Wilson, with a simple mission: to create the best designs in the industry and provide a top-notch embroidery education to go along with them. Everything created at Anita Goodesign from ideas, to designs, to production, to shipping it out to customers, starts and is carried out from the company’s home base in Charlotte, North Carolina.
