This part is the black "bobbin case" that the clear plastic "66 class" bobbin fits into. This bobbin case is designed to be installed into the machine and is meant to remain in the machine (other than being removed for cleaning or replacement) and the bobbin is the part that is removed from the bobbin case when rewinding the thread or changing the color.
